Sandy MacDonald is Head of Corporate Sustainability at Standard Life Aberdeen plc, which means he aims to ensure the business takes a long-term view and operates as responsibly as possible. Under his leadership, the Company has consistently improved its position in leading corporate sustainability indices including Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World and Europe, FTSE4Good and CDP (Climate Disclosure Project) and is recognised as a leading sustainable business in its sector and globally.
Sandy has a strong and active interest in social inclusion and creating, and campaigning for, equal opportunities for people from all backgrounds. As well as his role with Standard Life Aberdeen, he is Deputy Chair of Children 1st, Scotland’s national children’s charity, Chair of the Living Wage Leadership Group in Scotland and Chair of the Edinburgh Common Purpose Advisory group. He is also currently a Commissioner on the new Edinburgh Poverty Commission.
